Arriving as subtly as a hurricane, newly formed dark-pop duo XVOTO have shared their explosive debut 'Mommy Can’t Sleep'. Comprised of Jazz Alonso and Saigon Fury (AKA Duc Peterman: guitarist and producer in HMLTD), XVOTO's ambition is evident from the offset. On the nightmarish offering clattering beats, ominous synthesizers and throbbing sub bass create a hectic dystopian backdrop for Alonso's dynamic vocal delivery. They explain: "This song flip-flops between two scenes of grief: the nightmare and the cold sweat. In the verses I vent about being trapped in a nightmare full of (inner) demons, drilling myself for answers of how I ended up stuck in a feverish loop of pain. For the choruses I wanted to sketch that moment when you dream about someone in such detail that they feel real. Then you wake up, you’re all alone and you realise that the only way to keep them alive is to go back to sleep."
